Edithburgh, Yorke PeninsulaRating: Novice Join Divers Delight on a weekend away at beautiful Edithburgh on the Yorke Peninsula. On our trips to Edithburgh we dive the famous Edithburgh Jetty and Wool Bay. Edithburgh Jetty has been voted one of Australia’s best dive sites, with the opportunity to see many of our unique marine species. With its abundance of sealife and colour, the jetty offers not only a beautiful daylight dive but a spectacular night dive. There is always a huge variety of fishlife on and around the jetty including squid, cuttlefish, octopus, strongies, Pt. Jackson sharks and at the right time of year baby seahorses! Just north of Edithburgh (10 minute drive) is the tiny town of Wool Bay, with a population of just over 100. The jetty hides one of S.A.'s best dive sites for Leafy Seadragon spotting and although shallow, it is a fantastic and relaxing dive. Those of you with eagle eyes and underwater cameras are almost guaranteed to spot one of many beautiful Leafies that reside there. With so many beautiful things to see and experience, this weekend is a must for all divers. When travelling with the Divers Delight VIP Dive Club your accomadation is pre-arranged. We stay at the rustic Edithburgh Boathouse which is located in the heart of Edithburgh, within walking distance of the jetty and the local pub. The Boathouse offers dormitory style accommodation as well as 3 private rooms, full kitchen facilities, car parking and secure outdoor courtyard. Three bathrooms means that there is never a long wait for a warm shower after a dive!
The general schedule for an Edithburgh weekend is as follows: To get in as much diving as possible we drive over on Friday night, in a group if possible. The drive takes around 3 hours, give or take, so we generally arrive between 9pm and 10pm. This allows enough time to unpack and have a quick briefing about the plan for Saturday before hitting the sack. To make the most of our opportunity to dive we try to dive the Edithburgh jetty both in the morning and afternoon on Saturday. For lunch you can self cater or eat at one of the cafe's in Edithburgh. Divers Delight will pre-book dinner at a local pub for those wanting to dine out or you can self cater. Following dinner we have the option of going for a night dive for those who want to squeeze in one more dive for the day. On Sunday its time to head to Wool Bay to go hunting for the ever elusive Leafy Seadragon. When booking onto an Edightburgh trip through Divers Delight your accomodation and a simple breakfast on Sunday are included in the price.
