Jetty
Port Noarlunga Aquatic Reserve Rating: Novice
Location: 25km south of Adelaide
With over 200 species of marine plants and animals, over 73 types of fish, bryozoans, sponges, hydroids, ascidians and molluscs, this is an excellent dive for novice divers who just want to get in, get wet and see whats under the water. Caution should be taken, as there is a strong current when high and low tides have a difference of more than one metre, so check tides carefully. The Port Noarlunga Aquatic Trail with 12 markers starts next to seaward end of the jetty and travels south along the inside of the reef, through the gap and then north along the outside of the reef. The rock mounted posters along this trail give divers information on the reef, its wildlife and the history of the jetty as well as leading divers to see a couple of rusty old ship anchors. Top
Rapid Bay - Rapid Bay Jetty Rating: Novice plus great snorkeling
Location: 95km south of Adelaide
The Rapid Bay Jetty is located 95km south of Adelaide on the beautiful and scenic coast of South Australia's Flurieu Peninsula. To get in the water you must take a walk along the jetty and enter from the dive platform and ladder half way up the jetty, which is 470m long with a 200m T-section. Expect large schools of fish and you are almost guaranteed to see Leafy Sea Dragons. Rapid Bay was once described by marine biologist Reg Lipson as the on of the best jetty dives in Australia. An enjoyable dive and well worth the long walk out there! Top
